The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers B.E in Mechanical Engineering and M.E in Manufacturing Engineering. It was established in the academic year 2009-10 with an intake of 60 students and increased to 120 in the year 2011-12. It is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The department trains the students with well qualified and experienced faculty members and modern laboratories. The department has state of art research facilities with well-equipped research laboratory.

The students are taught the fundamentals of Thermal Science and Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering. They are further trained towards Cutting Edge Technologies like Computational Fluid Mechanics, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Computer Aided Design, Metrology and Measurements, Statistical Techniques in Modern Manufacturing, Finite Element Software Analysis & Methods, Industrial Heat Transfer, Design of Machine Elements, Design of Transmission system, Kinematic and Dynamics of Machinery. Apart from the regular curriculum, various visiting professors from pioneer institutions and reputed corporate companies are invited for the Guest lecturers to make the students competent and ethical professionals in Engineering & Technology. Hence, such trainings will enhance the placement of students in corporate companies & IT industries.
