Agni College of Technology (ACT), Thalambur, Chennai, conducted 13th Graduation Day at the College premises on Sunday, 2nd September 2018.
Dr. R.S. Kumar, Principal, Agni College of Technology, presided over the function and delivered the Welcome Address. Ms. Kavitha Vijayaraghavan, Placement Officer introduced the Chief Guest. Shri S. Pandian, Director, Sathish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota, ISRO, Department of Space, Government of India, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. P. Janarthanan Menon, Director, ACT, felicitated the function.
Addressing the young graduates, Shri S. Pandian, Director, Sathish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota, ISRO, Department of Space, Government of India, stressed on the importance of education and the role of engineers towards development of the society in order to improve the quality of life of every citizen in the country.He insisted on self-development and perseverance. He quoted Robert H. Goddard, “It is difficult to say what is impossible for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow." Further, He stated that Education is an asset and right education from the right place will take you to the right path to reach the great milestone. He insisted upon the fact that the technology driven environment opens a wide area of opportunities and illustrated how technology could be used for the welfare of humankind with the achievements of ISRO. He emphasized that every individual has to pursue their objective through a vision which can be changed to a mission and their mission will change the world. He urged the Engineers to leave a good mark of excellence for Mother India and strive hard to climb the ladder of success and bring laurels to the country.
A total of 338 graduates and postgraduates, including 2 university rank holders, received their degrees.
Dr. R.S. Kumar, Principal, Agni College of Technology administered the pledge to the graduates and the ceremony dissolved with National Anthem.
