Dept of EEE : workshop on Application of Machine Intelligence Techniques and Tools for Real Time Engineering Problems, 27th June, 2018

Institution of Engineers India (IEI) sponsored one day workshop on the topic of “Application of Machine Intelligence Techniques and Tools for Real Time Engineering Problems” was successfully conducted by department of electrical and electronics engineering on 27th June 2018, as planned at seminar hall, Agni College of Technology, Chennai.

            Emerging technologies in present world was discussed by Mr. Murali Sundaram Technocrat, Consultant at Cognizant Technology Solutions (IIT(M) Alumni). His session started with an example of Ola and Uber rental car services, that has transformed lives of people. Machine intelligence is next technological breakthrough. Smartphones are technology in our hand and, it is possible to make efficient use of such technologies with the help of intelligent techniques. He further discussed on many technologies, such as virtual reality (VR) technologies. Instead of system level thinking, importance of desig      n level thinking was discussed. Design level thinking covers all the aspects of interactive requirements. Discussion on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and its capabilities in solving real time engineering problems were discussed. Quantum computing and other computing technologies like Raspberry-Pi, cloud computing etc. were discussed. His session ended with gesturing the importance of  entrepreneurship and developing entrepreneur in the area of emerging technologies.

            Socio-economic challenges were discussed by Mr. Saugata Chakrabarti (Evangelist, Founder and Director). His session started with dividing whole participants (students and faculties-both internal and external) into groups. Each group consisting of 7 members addressing real world problems in a professional field and solving such problems in  effective manner.

            Internet of Things (IoT) were discussed by Mr. Arul Prabakar, Assistant Manager (NSIC). IoT is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data, creating opportunities for more direct integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, resulting in efficiency improvements, economic benefits, and reduced human exertions. Many models and future opportunities on the same were discussed.

            The event was a grand success with the valedictory presence of Mr. Agnishwar Jayaprakash (Vice Chairman, Agni Foundation). Around 98 members of internal and external participants attended the event. Around 33 students and 15 faculties from other colleges participated, apart from 50 internal participants.
